Meet Dr. James Armstrong Montana, a retired medical professional whose journey has been defined by his unwavering dedication to healthcare and deep appreciation for the natural world. Born on June 7, 1963, in Danville, Pennsylvania, he grew up amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Kalispell, Montana.

From a young age, he displayed a genuine passion for sports and music and actively contributed to his community. His academic voyage led him to Princeton University, where he pursued a degree in History while immersing himself in various campus pursuits. Rooted in strong family ties, unwavering faith, and a profound love for Montana's pristine beauty, he expresses his passions through his affinity for tennis, sailing, skiing, hiking, hunting, and fly fishing.

Emerging from Flathead High School as a standout three-sport athlete and a cherished member of the Concert Choir, he ventured into higher education at Princeton University. Following graduation, he began an educational path by interning at St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire.

While teaching provided fulfillment, his true calling in healthcare beckoned him back to Montana. He spent summers guiding adventurers in Glacier Park and was a Ski Patrol member on Big Mountain in Whitefish. He also contributed as a wilderness intern at the Wilderness Treatment Center, supporting young individuals facing chemical dependencies.

His medical journey commenced at a distinguished institution, where he became a part of the United Church of Christ and Choir in Vermont. His medical education continued with an internship at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, followed by a residency at the esteemed Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, specializing in Family Medicine. Driven by an unshakable commitment to underserved communities, he took on the role of a health officer for the Indian Health Service in Browning, Montana, dedicating two meaningful years to this cause.

Subsequently, he joined his father in private practice in Kalispell, shouldering the responsibilities of Chairman of the Family Medicine Department at KRMC. His professional journey extended beyond state boundaries, encompassing significant periods in Arizona, before he found himself back in his Kalispell roots, contributing his expertise at MedNorth Urgent Care.

From 2013 to 2020, he served wholeheartedly as a full-time physician at CostCare in Missoula, Montana. Beyond his medical duties, he found fulfillment in supporting his daughter's high school tennis team, volunteering as an assistant coach in 2019. His dedication to family medicine and urgent care remained unwavering until his well-earned retirement in March 2021.
